Many people underestimate DELL, they have a huge market in South America and Caribbean. Their distribution system is good and they're here to stay. Don't be surprised to see in time to come that MSFT and DELL get together. HPQ is another good player in the market and are competitors, but DELL is the underdog in this one.

Loss of creativity and market share. HP is a much better bet.
Dell packages poor products with a formerly good name. Even losing its name now.
Large proportion of sales within US also; IBM (Lenovo) and HP have much more influence in emerging economies.
