The-overall macro theme of CLB is hard to ignore, and given the recent dip in price, I think it's a good time to buy in. CLB provides well optimization services to oil producers, which help oil producers get the most out of their reservoirs. Since the average well is profitable for about 15 to 20 years, optimization is important, as it will help increase well life times and reduce total drilling costs. Further, this stock has virtually no correlation to the price of crude oil, which means any decline in the price of oil will not likely translate into a price decline in CLB. I think this is an excellent opportunity for an excellent stock. (Close)

Given-AINV's exposure to the debt markets (80% of this company's assets are debt securities), this stock will not only be volatile for the next year or so, but also probably fall in value. The unraveling of the subprime debt market, and possibly the credit derivatives market, makes this stock too risky for me. If you think the debt markets can ride out the subprime storm without incurring further losses, then this stock is the contrarian play for you. For me, I am going to wait until the full impact of the subprime melt down is over with before I look at this stock again. (Close)
